An initiative started 10 years ago by India's largest non profit organisation "The Akshaya Patra Foundation" has really proved to be a boon for about 1,253,266 children daily.

The foundation has worked to transform dreams of these children into reality, giving them food and education: The 2 basic needs for survival.

The foundation introduced and worked hard for the mid-day meal scheme with following Objectives:
- avoid classroom hunger
- increase school enrolment
- increase school attendance
- improve socialization among castes
- address malnutrition
- empower women through employment
